A Twenty-Five-Year old pregnant woman, Mary Aseibey has allegedly been assaulted to death by her husband and rival woman at Deideso Nakpanya, near Begoro in the Fanteakwa district of the Eastern region. The body of the deceased has been sent to the Police Hospital in Accra pending autopsy. Meanwhile, the two suspects, Moses Agudu (28), husband of the deceased and his accomplice, Maameley (30) have been arrested by the Begoro Police command assisting investigation. Speaking to the DAILY HERITAGE, the Begoro District Police Commander, DSP Samuel Odame explained that a complaint was lodged to the police that the two suspects assaulted the pregnant woman under least provocation. Three days later, the deceased felt seriously ill due to the pain suffered from the attack and was hospitalized at the Begoro government hospital, had miscarriage and died the following day. The district Police Commander stated that the police later proceeded to arrest the two suspects who are currently in police custody assisting investigations. DSP Odame said the two suspects during interrogation confirmed beating the pregnant woman; however, he added that the his outfit is awaiting the Autopsy report from the Police Hospital to ascertain if the death of the deceased had any linkage with the assault to enable the police prosecute the case.
