UCC To Reopen On September 8 For 2014/2015 Academic Year

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) is to resume regular academic work on Monday September 8, following the suspension of the five-week long strike action embarked on by University lecturers. A press release issued by the Registrar, Mr John Nyan, indicated that fresh and continuing students of UCC were to report for the 2014/2015 academic year on 8th and 13th September respectively. In August, the UCC announced an indefinite postponement of the reopening of the school due to the strike action by University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG). The University Teachers Association of Ghana has since July this year been on strike in protest against governments failure to pay their research and book allowances. The government also came out to announce that the Universities should postpone their reopening for the 2014/2015 academic year due to the outbreak of Ebola in some West African countries.
