The local head of the Church of the Lord, Aladura, was killed in the late hours of Monday, at his house at Nyinahin, in the Atwima Mponua District of Ashanti.
The head pastor, Paul Abrefa, 60, is said to have been stabbed in the stomach.
While some residents claim he might have killed himself, others believe he was killed by someone else.
William Darko, Assemblyman of Nyinahin, who confirmed the incident to The Ghanaian Times, said when neighbours went to the scene at about 8 P.M., the Pastor was writhing in pains, with a knife stuck in his stomach.
The first people to arrive at the scene saw somebody running into the bush and gave him a chase, but could not arrest him.
The pastor, he said, was pronounced dead when he was rushed to the hospital.
A report was lodged with the Nyinahin Police, and investigations are going on.
