E/R NDC To Go Technological In 2016

AN INFORMATION Communication Technology lecturer at the Presbyterian University College of Ghana, aspiring as the Eastern regional secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mark Oliver Kevor has disclosed plans to develop technological based campaign strategy for the party in the region. According to him, the strategy would be blended with the orthodox political campaign to ensure increase in the current 43% votes of the party in the Eastern region to more than 50% to ensure victory for the party when voted as regional secretary. He explained that running for elected office is still about connecting with the voters, getting out your message, requesting contributions, building support, and most importantly, getting the voters to actually go to the polls to cast their votes. He said demographic data and analysis would be initiated to inform campaign strategies to be carried out to ensure that campaign messages get down to the electorates. He explained that the new campaign support technologies which include the use of social media and traditional media would allow candidates to accomplish the tasks associated with their office more efficiently and effectively. He stressed this idea would not lose sight on the need to resource and empower the grassroots support base of the party in the region. Mr Kevor who is currently the Eastern regional communications director of the NDC said this in Koforidua during a press briefing with a section of the media to officially declare his intention to contest the regional secretary position of the party. Touching on some administrative plans, Mr Kevor stated that full time office administrators would be employed at the regional secretariat to attend to concerns of party supporters with activated call center where party supporters can connect to the regional executives. Speaking on the opposition New Patriotic Party aspiring flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, he stated that he cannot cheat nature by pretending to be physically and mentally strong enough to do hard work equally as a youth. According to him, "effects of ageing on the brain and cognition are widespread and have multiple effects. As we age our brains shrink in volume, particularly, in the frontal cortex while white matter develops lesions, adding that memory decline also occurs with ageing and brain activation becomes more bilateral for memory tasks." Mr Akufo-Addo will clock 72 years before 2016 election which many persons both within and outside his party have raised concerns of his physical and mental fitness to lead the country. However, Mr Akufo-Addo has on several occasions told his ecstatic supporters that "there are people going around saying that I am not well, so I cant do the jobI dont know whether they are my doctors, and they have an idea of what is happening to mebut I am very certain I am strong, and I can do the work." But, the lecturer believes it is undisputable fact that Mr Akufo-Addo cannot campaign same way as he did prior to 2012 election and cannot pretend to be physically energetic to do hard work since that would have rippling effect on his health. Mr Kevor who seems to be receiving overwhelming endorsement by the party hierarchy has been Afram Plains constituency youth organizer and a member of the Eastern Regional Election Committee in 2012 election. He is currently the Eastern regional communications director of the party. Academic credentials Mr. Kevor has been a lecturer at the ICT department of the Presbyterian University College (PUCG), Ghana since 2006.
