Milutin Sredojevic, coach of the Cranes of Uganda has declared his side's readiness to battle the Black Stars in Kumasi on Saturday, even though the Serbian admits to the qualities of the Ghana national team.
Ghana host the East African country in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Match Day one tie with both teams chasing section rivals, Guinea who jumped atop Group E after defeating Togo on Friday evening. Only two automatic slots are available for qualification to the tournament in Morocco in January.
And though Sredojevic knows the huge strengths of their opponents added to the fact that the Black Stars are desperate to appease their countrymen with a resounding win following a shameful Brazil 2014 World Cup showing, the Serbian is defiant.
�For Ghana, we already know who they are and they are the flagbearers of football on this continent," Sredojevic said after his team's training session in Kumasi on Friday.
�It is a game where we are supposed to play against a team that would be motivated after the disappointments of Brazil to show to the people of Ghana that what has happened has no connection with what should be," said the Serbian with over ten years experience on the African continent.
He continued: �On the other side we are coming with the intention of finding where we have reached as a team. I cannot reveal totally everything, but we will stretch ourselves to see where we are.�
Sredojevic also revealed his admiration for under fire Black Stars helmsman, Kwesi Appiah and expressed his surprise at the pressure the coach has been under in Ghana.
�I have great respect for Kwesi Appiah despite the fact that Ghanaians are very harsh towards him. He has taken the team very far and deserves respect,� Sredojevic told TV3.
