Black Stars Player Samuel Inkoom Signs For D.C United

The defender is expected to provide cover for all-star Sean Franklin on the backline and offer depth on the right side of midfield for the final six weeks of the regular season and the CONCACAF Champions League. Inkoom became a free agent after exhausting his loan stint with Greece side Platanias from Dnipro of Ukraine. Details of the current deal are undisclosed. The 25-year-old has had spells with Switzerland giants Basel and Bastia of France. We are pleased to be adding an experienced player in Samuel who will provide us solid depth at the wide midfield and outside back positions, General Manager of DC United Dave Kasper said in an official statement. Inkoom has been handed the No. 21 shirt and is eligible to play but the club would not say whether he will join the squad in Vancouver on Saturday night. United will then visit New York on Wednesday. Inkoom, who started 15 games for Platanias last season, was part of the Ghana Under-20 side that won gold at the World Youth Championship in Egypt. He has been part of the Ghana World Cup squad since 2010.
