Commission Investigates Non-Payment Of Pension

The Judgement Debt Commission, has begun investigations into the nonpayment of pension pay by the Controller and Accountant Generals Department (CAGD) to petitioner Mr Wellington Tetteku under CAP 30 of the pensions Act. Mr Dometi Kofi Sorkpor, Counsel for the Commission explained to the media that, the CAGD was served with a letter from the presidency some months ago to release all the petitioners entitlement and antecedents to him but the department failed to do so. Mr Sorkor thus said the respondent from the department Mr Edward Kobla Samlafo claimed that going through the files of the said Mr Tetteku it did not come across the copy of the letter although controller has a copy. He said the respondent Mr Samlafo however indicated that the petitioner Mr Tetteku did not qualify under CAP 30 to be given pension pay. He explained that Mr Tetteku was employed in 1966 as a messenger a post which is a non pensionable rate under CAP 30. Mr Samiafo said although he was promoted to the post of an accounts assistant in 1975 he was still not qualified.
