More Join NDC Chairmanship Race In Volta Region

The contest for the Volta Regional chairmanship of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is getting keener as more people join the race. The latest on the block is a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Hohoe South Constituency, Mr Kosi Kedem, who is contesting with a vision to translate the NDC World Bank status of the region into actual benefits and opportunities for Voltarians. About four other people, including youthful persons, are working tirelessly to snatch the position from the incumbent chairman, Mr Kwasi Aboagye, who is also in the race. The others include Captain George Nfodjo (rtd), a former Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Dr Kwame Ampofo, a former Managing Director of Tema Oil Refinery, Mr Mawutor Agbavitor, the Chief Executive Officer of Dominion Properties, and Mr John Kwadwo Agyapong. New leadership In an exclusive interview, Mr Kedem expressed the optimism that he would win the election, looking at his track record as one of the vice chairmen of the region, coupled with the vision he has for the regional branch. According to him, he would bring on board a new leadership style based on discipline, justice, equity, fairness, firmness, tolerance, accountability and transparency. Also, he said, I will streamline and synergise the relationship between the regional executives, Members of Parliament , municipal and district chief executives in order to build trust, mutual respect and co-operation among them. Election 2016 not joke Observing that the election ahead in 2016 was no joke, the aspirant said the party needed to secure all its parliamentary seats in the region to create a great chance for the partys victory in 2016. My major task will be to mobilise and manage all legally available human and financial resources in order to help retain NDC in power in 2016, he declared. Claiming to be the best man for the chairman position, he I will re-structure and re-vitalise the NDC party in the Volta Region by giving more initiative, political space and resources to the youth and women and branches of the party to operate more effectively and efficiently to achieve the desired goal. Promising to work closely with other executive members, Mr Kedem indicated that looking at the level of apathy among party faithful in the region, he would institute a special annual honours day to award, encourage and appreciate loyal, dedicated and hard-working members. Furthermore, he said if he was elected the chairman, he would ensure the construction of a regional party office in the shortest time possible. Some political records Mr Kosi Kedem is one of the regional vice chairmen of the party in the Volta Region. He was a Member of the consultative assembly that drafted the 1992 Constitution of Ghana and the member of Parliament for Hohoe South Constituency for 12 years. For his excellent performance in Parliament, he was in 2005 awarded for the outstanding contribution to proceedings of the Third Parliament of the Fourth Republic. The aspirant led the crusade to create the Hohoe South Constituency, now Afadjato- South Constituency.
