NDC Aspirants Protest

Some aspiring executive members of the Kpone Katamanso branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have protested their disqualification from contesting the up-coming constituency elections. They have therefore accused the current constituency executives of conniving with the regional executives and some gurus in the constituency to disqualify them after they had earlier been served with letters that they had all qualify to contest. Speaking to Today on grounds of anonymity, they explained that the current executives were doing everything possible to be retained even though they are no longer running the affairs of the constituency well. According to a highly placed source, no tangible reasons were given for their disqualification because they were all vetted at the regional ministers house. The source said per the constitution of the party they were able to produce all the relevant documents needed at the vetting and wondered how the current chairman, Mr. Elis Aferi, was cleared to contest even though he failed to produce his party card. A copy of the vetting committees report intercepted by Today, confirmed that all the aspirants were qualified to contest, adding that they were alarmed when about eight of them were later disqualified after the initial letters. They therefore appealed to the regional executives to intervene or they will advise themselves because some of them have served the party for so many years.
