Upper West Region Assures Akufo-Addo Of Better Fortunes In 2016

The Upper West Region has assured Nana Akufo-Addo of a turnaround in his political fortunes, regarding the votes he obtains from the Region in general elections, if he is chosen to lead the New Patriotic Party into the 2016 general elections. Nana Akufo-Addo, who was in Wa, on Monday, September 8, to thank delegates of the Region for the 100% resounding victory he obtained in the Special Electoral College, paid courtesy calls on opinion leaders and some important personalities in the municipality as part of his Thank You tour. Nana Akufo-Addo first called on the Chief Imam of Wa at his residence. Speaking on behalf of the Chief Imam, Alhaji Bin Salih, who is also an elder of the NPP in the Region, assured Nana Akufo-Addo that the Upper West region was turning a new leaf, regarding voting for the NPP. This, he said, was demonstrated in Akufo-Addos vote share in the August 31 Special Electoral College. The Region, in his view, had been disappointed in the way the NPP had treated it in times past, resulting in the relatively low vote share the NPP had previously received from the Region. However, he assured Nana Akufo-Addo that a new page was being turned and that, come October 18, we will demonstrate our new love for the NPP and it will be evident for all to see. The Upper West is leading (with 100% for Akufo-Addo) and will continue to lead. Nana Akufo-Addos next point of call was to the Yerenaa, Alhaji Mogtar, the head of the Muslim community in Wa. Nana Addo explained to him that his purpose for being in the Region was to thank delegates who had voted in the Special Electoral College of the party, and, with the Upper West Region giving him a 100% victory, he believed it was apt for him to begin his campaign for the second phase of the flagbearership contest from the Region. He had come to the Yerenaa, as he had done on previous occasions, to seek his blessings and prayers for the task ahead. Alhaji Mogtar, on his part, praised Nana Akufo-Addo for the patience and tolerance he has exhibited over the years, adding that Allah rewards patient people. The fact that you have not given up is an indication that you have something good to offer the people of Ghana. He was of the belief Allah will crown Nana Akufo-Addos efforts come election 2016, when Ghanaians give him the mandate to lead the country on January 7, 2017. Whilst in Wa, Nana Akufo-Addo also attended the funeral of the late Alhaji Tahir Momeen, an Imam and elder of the party, who was also the father of the NPPs parliamentary candidate for Wa Central constituency, Alhaji Isaahaku Tahir Momeen. He explained to the gathering the purpose of his visit to Wa, and decided to attend the funeral when apprised of the death of the NPP stalwart. He stated that it was important to acknowledge the contribution of the Imam to the growth of the NPP in Wa, and expressed his sympathies and condolences to the family and to Alhaji Momeen. Nana Akufo-Addo also paid a visit to the family of Zainat Issahaku, the young woman who was involved in an accident and died on the day Nana Akufo-Addo last visited the Upper West Region ahead of the Special Electoral College. The family of Zainat thanked Nana Addo for finding time to commiserate with the family, despite sending Mr. Boakye Agyarko to attend the funeral on his behalf.
