UseThe Waste Bins For Its Purpose, Not For Food Storage-Nii Lantey Vanderpuye

The Deputy minister for Local Government and Rural development, Hon Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has cautioned the beneficiaries and the general public against the use of the waste bins for the storage of food items, instead of waste. According to him, its has come to the notice of the ministry that, most of the beneficiaries of the government�s free waste bins distribution policy for all house holds, uses the bins for food storage and other purposes. The government through the local government and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly in partnership with the Zoomlion Ghana Ltd, recently introduced the free waste bins policy for all house holds to improve sanitations and to also minimimize the rampant spread of cholera in the country. Hon Nii Lantey Vanderpuye made this statement at this year�s Fetu Afahye (festival ) at Oguaaa in the central region, with the Launch of the free waste bins policy and distributed over 20 bins to the cape coast municipal assembly, and expected to be given over 200 For the assembly to various house holds after registration. He added that, the fight against the outbreak of cholera is a collective responsibility, hence, the need for all to come together to contribute our quota to eradicate the disease accordingly . He said the ministry and the AMA will soon launch the project in the volta region, and the subsequent regions with the distribution of over one million waste bins.
