Opare Hammond: I Really Do Deserve An ApologyAgyapong & Afoko Must Be Ashamed Now

Following the outcome of the New Patriotic Party (NPPs) Constitutional Committees findings on the proceed on leave directive handed down to Messrs Opare Hammond and Perry Okudzeto by the partys General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong, one of the officers who was affected by the order says he can now heave a sigh of relief. Director of Finance, Opare Hammond, asserts he really does deserve an apology for the vile propaganda perpetrated against him and believes the National Chairman, Paul Afoko and the Chief Scribe must have eggs on their faces now. The NPPs Constitutional Committee, chaired by Professor Aaron Mike Ocquaye, a former Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, on Tuesday asked the Chief Scribe to reinstate Fred Opare Hammond and Perry Okudzeto, Directors of Finance and Communications respectively; who were asked to proceed on leave last month. "The Committee observes that some officers of the Party, particularly, the Director of Communications and the Director of Finance, have been asked by the General Secretary to proceed on leave...The Committee respectfully considers this an anomaly...the Committee finds the directive given by the General Secretary for those officers of the Party to proceed on leave, improper.... ...The General Secretary clearly violated the Director of Finances constitutional rights with the allegations he made on PEACE FM. We respectfully call on him to retract same and apologize to the Director of Finance, the committee stated in its legal opinion of the matter. Reached for his comments following the Committees findings, the embattled Opare Hammond expressed gratitude to God was grateful for exonerating him on the allegation of financial malfeasance. Whiles disclosing that he has not personally received any official communication regarding the issue, Opare Hammond told Kwame Nkrumah Tikese in an interview on Okay Fms Ade Akye Abia Morning Show it is imperative Kwabena Agyapong and Paul Afoko apologizes to him for the unfair treatment meted out to him. ..the way I was treated was not lawful and I was not given a fair hearing for the truth to come out before I was sacked from office. It is necessary that the General Secretary apologizes to me for the unfair treatment; I was deeply hurt by the way Kwabena Agyapong and Paul Afoko handled the allegation against me without giving me the opportunity to respond..I still insist that all the allegations against me were not true but they went ahead to issue a statement in the press to accuse me wrongly. I expect that retraction and apology from Kwabena Agyapong..Kwabena Agyapong and Paul Afoko must be ashamed of themselves for using unconstitutional means to address party issues, he fumed.
