'Shameful' NHIS Official Beats Adom FMs Afia Pokua

This week has been a bad week for journalists working with the Multimedia Group Limited. Journalists, working with the media house have suffered unnecessary attacks from the public in the course of discharging their duties. First came an attack on one of the companys driver and two journalists, Solomon Joojo Cobbinah and Festus Jackson Davies who were arrested on the orders of the AMA Boss, Alfred Vanderpuije for covering a story on the plight of some displaced people at Mensah Guinea in Accra. Three journalists from Adom FM, suffered the same old faith when an altercation broke out between them and the Manager of the National Health Insurance Scheme at Ablekuma- resulting in a fist fight. Peace FM News interviewed the News Editor of Adom FM Afia Pokua after the reported incident and she had this to say. A reporter with our station went out to cover a story on persons who had been queuing since 3am to get their biometric cards. But he called later to report that his mobile phone had been confiscated by the Scheme Manager of the NHIS office, Mr. Laryea. Our reporter was detained and told that he would only be released if his Editor came to bail him out. I went there in the company of another reporter and when we got there, we managed to settle the dispute. However, the crowd who had no idea of the proceedings rather accused the Adom FM crew, of conniving with the NHIS boss and caring less about their plight. I tried to explain things to them and Mr. Laryea got angered by this. A gentleman he came out of the office with hurled me to the ground and fought me. I tried defending myself but he beat me. It was bad of him and I got help from a gentleman who saw me in pain. As I talk to you now, I have bruises all over my body, Afia sadly said.
