I Am Ready To Work With Everyone- Akufo-Addo

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured delegates and the entire membership of the New Patriotic Party that he is prepared to work with every member of the NPP who wants victory in 2016, so as to restore Ghana back onto the path of prosperity and progress. I am determined to work with everybody in this party, everybody who is determined to win in 2016, whether they support me or not, I am determined to work with them, Akufo-Addo said, when he addressed the 79 delegates who voted in the August 31 Special Electoral College, at the new regional office of the party. In an apparent reference to the decision made by Hon. Kofi Osei-Ameyaw, who has dropped out of the contest to support him, and to the question whether or not he will be able to work with him, Nana Akufo-Addo assured delegates that yes, I will be able to work with him. We are all in the NPP, we all share the same beliefs, that is what makes us NPP. We believe in human rights, individual liberties, social justice, the rule of law and private sector-led economic development. These are the common beliefs we all have and which bind us together in the NPP. He continued, However, we are not robots, we dont go with just one thinking. We may have different views and differences of opinions about strategy and differences of opinion about leadership. But, one thing which is an important part of our culture, is that, once we have made a decision, once there is a trend, we all come together, follow that decision or trend and make it happen. That, according to Akufo-Addo, is the culture that Osei-Ameyaw has demonstrated to the Ghanaian people. He says this is the trend that the party is going to and I am going to be a part of that trend. Nana Akufo-Addo also welcomed Mr. Amofa, campaign manager of Hon. Osei-Ameyaw and a former NPP Youth Organiser of the NPP in the Eastern Region, on board his team. In the process, Nana Akufo-Addo appealed to the delegates, who did not vote or work for him in the August 31 contest, to vote for him this time round, explaining that an even more emphatic victory in October 18 will provide a strong base for the party going forward to secure victory in election 2016. The victory will make it possible for us to put in place our vision the transformation of our country. Our country can be much better off than it is today. This country is a country that can be prosperous and where the ordinary person can have a dignified life. That is what we are going to ensure happens in Ghana with our victory, He reiterated the point made throughout his campaign that he is not in politics to steal the money of Ghanaians or to enrich himself or his family, explaining that he has a dream and vision of what this country can be like. Many years from now the children of today will say that it was our fathers and mothers who changed Ghana and they did so when Akufo-Addo was President, he said. He appealed to the delegates to stand together and deliver an emphatic victory for him on October 18. This time round it is not number 6, it is number 1. The balloting of the party has just ended and this time round I am number 1 on the ballot, he said. Present at the meeting were, amongst others, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, 2008 and 2012 running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo; Hon. Kofi Osei-Ameyaw, MP for Asuogyam; Sheikh I.C. Quaye, former Greater Accra Regional Minister and former MP for Ayawaso Central; Hon. Stanley Nii Adjiri Blankson, former Mayor of Accra; Hon. Ishmael Ashitey, Greater Accra NPP Regional Chairman; 15 regional executives; and 32 out of 34 constituency chairmen.
