The Ghana Football Association has confirmed that its decision to sack former Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah was based on a comment he made concerning the issue of an appointment of a technical adviser for him [Kwasi Appiah]. The 54-year-old amid a press conference in Kumasi prior to the Black Stars African Cup of Nations qualifier opener against Uganda revealed he did not ask for a technical adviser as purported by the Public. The Ghana FA had declared confidence in the Ghanaian tactician despite failing to qualify the Black Stars out from the group stages of the World Cup for the first time. Appiah received a shock dismissal on Friday after the nation�s football governing body confirmed that it had parted ways with the former Black Stars captain. In an interview on GTV�s Sunday night live show, the communication director of the FA, Ibrahim Sannie Darra confirmed that the decision taken by the Football Association was based on the comment made by the former national star. �The executive committee of the football Association thinks that given what has happened over the past few days came to a conclusion that it will be better for us to Part Company with Kwasi Appiah particularly with the comment on the issue concerning the appointment of a technical adviser,� he said. �The understanding of the executive committee was that it is the best way to go forward if we want to improve the team,� he added. �The executive committee thinks that it has engaged the coach enough in the processes and a public statement making the point clear that it wasn�t his idea of an appointment of a technical adviser but the opinion of the executive committee�. �So the executive committee sat down and decided on concluding that we will part ways with Kwasi Appiah�. Kwasi Appiah in his two year reign managed 16 victories, 11 losses and 8 draws in 35 games in charge of the Black Stars. He holds the record as the first indigenous coach to qualify Ghana to the World Cup.
