MP Invokes Antoa To Kill DCE

THE MEMBER of Parliament (MP) for Awutu East constituency, Hawa Koomson has called on deity Antoa to kill the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Adams Nuhu and the Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) vice chairman of Odukpon Kpehe basic school, Victor K. Nyonator for tarnishing her image. The incident happened when the vice chairman of the PTA, Mr. Nyanator claimed that Madam Koomson was part of the assembly meeting in which the members of the assembly decided to give the land of Odukpon Kpehe basic school to an estate developer. It was against this background that the MP in a very furious mood cursed the vice and the district chief executive in the name of gods of seven waters to kill them because they want to create a problem for her. I have with me schnapps and eggs and I am cursing anyone who is saying that I was part of the meeting which agreed to give the school land to Obolo real estate for development, she cursed. Madam Koomson claimed that she most often leaves such meetings even before they come to an end and said she remembers that her last assembly meeting was in January this year and such issue was not tabled before the house. I attended their assembly meeting somewhere in January this year and at that meeting I left there before they closed and they did not discuss any issue of that sort, so I wonder why my name was mentioned that I have agreed to the assembly decision to give the land to the estate developer, she explained The MP emphasized that she would not have approved such dubious transaction, where a school land would be turned into a market place if she was there, because the move by the DCE would not benefit the school, but he and his cronies. However, the DCE, Mr. Nuhu could not confirm whether the MP was at that particular meeting or not, but said, Madam Koomson attended all their meetings and the decision was taken during one of their assembly meetings. Explaining the whole issue, Mr. Nuhu said since the school is near the Kasoa old market, the assembly decided to partner with a private land developer to be able to fence the school, so initially, he said, they gave it to one Auntie Mercy but later she called for the cancellation of the contract. So during the last assembly meeting, they agreed to give it to Obolo real estate for public-private partnership on the agreement that the developer will fence the whole school and build stores on the side. We gave it to Obolo real estate on the basis that he will build stores in addition to the fence wall and he will use the stores for a period of time and after he has recovered his cost and the interest the assembly will take it back. For instance if the cost plus the interest is thousand Ghana cedi and the rent of a store is five Ghana cedis a day, we are going to divide the cost plus interest by the rent to find out the number of years we can take the stores back, he explained. Mr. Nuhu said it baffled his mind why an opportunity like that is attracting political meaning and discourage the man from starting the project, saying people just want to score political points, but it will not work. On his side, the headmistress of the primary school, Francesca Dzoboku-Cudjoe was very happy about the move by the assembly to fence the school, because according to her, the place is insecure to the teachers and the students. She hinted that some are using the place as a hotel, and they always find condoms, ladies underwear and all sorts of non-learning related materials which make the students not comfortable when in school.
