ECOWAS Chair President Mahama Explains His Trip To Ebola Affected Countries

ECOWAS Chair President John Dramani Mahama, has been explaining to Journalists why it was necessary to embark on the trip to Ebola affected countries. He said it was a follow up to the West African health ministers conference that was held recently in Accra and also to show solidarity in the dark moments On the Ad hoc measures taken by some countries to curb the spread of the Ebola disease, President Mahama said it is tantamount to stigmatisation and has had adverse negative effect on some economies. He condemned the ban of flights from Liberia, Sierra leone and Guinea, adding that now that the panic moments are over flights should be restored President Mahama, also spoke on efforts so far to make Ghana a logistic base for the International fight against Ebola in West Africa. This was upon request by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki moon. In a related development, Sierra Leone's President Ernest Bai Koroma, says he believes the visit of ECOWAS Chair President Mahama, to his country will end the isolation Sierra Leone has been going through both on the sub-region and internationally. Sierra Leone is among two countries hardly hit by the deadly Ebola disease. Interacting with President Mahama, President Koroma said he is confident that as ECOWAS Chair President Mahama will help to assure the world that all is well. He admitted that the outbreak in Sierra Leone was a disaster as citizens and medical staff lost their lives. The economy also slowed down and the country suffered isolation from the International community.
