STATEMENT: Graphic's Kenu Drops Assault Case...Baffour Gyan FREE

Information reaching Peacefmonline.com indicates that the Ashanti Regional Editor of the Daily Graphic newspaper, Daniel Kenu has withdrawn the assault case from court. According to HELLO FMs Isaac Owusu, Kenu decided to withdraw the case because his uncle, Efo Kwame who has been asking him to drop the case had died. Apart from that he needs to take care of his mother who is currently ill. A statement intercepted by Peacefmonline.com signed by Daniel Kenu states: my recent consistent and persistent rise in my blood pressure following the trauma that I am currently going through as a result of the September 5, 2014 attack as well as the sudden death of my uncle Efo Kwame in the Eastern Region, who until his death on the eve of the last hearing in court, September 12, had insisted that I let go of the case because the name of the family had been in the media too much lately, warranted this decision. Meanwhile, Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group Ltd, Ken Asigbey has expressed surprise at Kenus decision. Kenu was assaulted by Baffour Gyan, brother of Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, and some thugs at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi. Kenu swore to make Baffour Gyan pay for what he did to him; to serve as a lesson to others who disrespect journalists. Speaking in an interview on PEACE FM, Kenu said he will never accept an out of court settlement. The case was therefore taken to a Kumasi circuit court but according to Isaac Owusu who has been following the case, the Ashanti Regional Editor has never been seen in court.
