Thank God We Are Free Says Baffour Gyan & Asamoah Gyan's Errand Boy

Lawyer Kissi Agyabeng, counsel for Baffour Gyan and Samuel Anim Addo says his clients are relieved that Daniel Kenu has dropped the case of assault against them. The Ashanti Regional Editor of the Daily Graphic in a statement issued on Friday said he was no longer interested in pursuing the case in court, citing health reasons. He added that his "recent consistent and persistent rise in my blood pressure following the trauma that I am currently going through as a result of the September 5, 2014 attack as well as the sudden death of my uncle Efo Kwame in the Eastern Region, who until his death on the eve of the last hearing in court, September 12, had insisted that I let go of the case because the name of the family had been in the media too much lately, warranted this decision. Kenu initiated a court action against Asamoah Gyans elder brother, Baffour Gyan over an alleged physical assault meted out to him a day before the Black Stars played its opening 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Uganda. Two counts of assault charges were also brought against Asamoah Gyans errand boy Samuel Anim Addo, who according to Kenu, was an accomplice in the alleged assault. According to Hello FMs Isaac Owusu who broke the news, Kenu was never seen in any of the proceedings at the Kumasi Circuit Court after he initiated the civil action. Following the news of the withdrawal, some have expressed surprise at Kenus sudden decision with others even alleging the senior journalist has been paid off. But speaking in an interview on Cit FM, Lawyer Agyabeng said his clients have not remitted Kenu in any way, including financially. He did not say that he was going to settle with ushe did not ask for an out of court settlement. The court only read his statement; that he (Kenu) had decided to drop the case. I am defense counsel and so when he said he was withdrawing, I grabbed it with both handsThey are relieved that the criminal charge has been lifted off their heads, counsel for the two said.
