Im Shocked At Daniel Kenus Decision Kwaku Baako

Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr. has expressed shock at the decision by assaulted Ashanti regional editor of the Graphic Communications Group, Daniel Kenu to seek an out-of-court settlement. According to him, such status quo if maintained will rather encourage people to assault journalists and go scout free. Daniel Kenu discontinued the assault charges he brought against former Black Stars player, Baffuor Gyan after he led a violent attack on him in Kumasi. This was after he was allegedly assaulted over a question he asked at a pre-match press conference about rumours linking the Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan to the missing hiplife artiste Theophilus Tagoe, also known as Castro. Baffuor and his accomplices were arrested and subsequently charged with assault after he appeared in court. But lawyers of the plaintiff on Friday, September 19th, 2014 withdrew the matter on health grounds and external pressures. Speaking on Asempa FMs Ekosii Sen programme on Friday, Kwaku Baako said he is disappointed in the decision to discontinue the case. He maintained that though Kenu is no longer interested in pursuing the case, the Attorney General Department can take up the matter after the complainant The doctors report or police medical form could be substantial evidence for criminal prosecution, he added. Kwaku Baako insists the matter must be followed to its logical conclusion to deter others from assaulting journalists in their line of duty in future.
