Minister Impressed With Development Projects

THE ASHANTI Regional Minister, Dr. Samuel Sarpong has expressed his happiness about fast spate of infrastructure developments that are on-going in the Afigya- Kwabre District. According to him, he is marveled at the rapid developments in the area within almost seven years after the district was created. In spite of the fact that this district is about seven years Im highly impressed with the level of infrastructural and other developments on- going here, he remarked. The regional minister made these statements when he toured some places in the district to acquaint himself with the progress of a number of on going projects the district has been undertaking. Afigya Kwabre is one of the districts created in 2007 during the reign of the New Patriotic Party. It was carved from the then Kwabre district now Kwabre East and Sekyere South with its capital located at Kodie off the Kumasi Techiman Highway. It has over sixty communities with an estimated population of about one hundred and forty thousand. Dr. Sarpong inspected some of the on-going projects including classroom block, the new administration block for the assembly and GH34 million market at Afrancho. The minister praised the District Chief Executive (DCE), Oppong Kyekyeku for his initiative to put such huge edifice in place with the reason that upon completion traders would no longer commute to Kumasi to transact business. He disclosed the market was expected to be completed in December this year. In his interactions with the people, he assured them that all the deplorable roads in the district would be put in good shape to accelerate movement of goods and services. According to him, the government was on course with its Better Ghana Agenda therefore it was incumbent on the citizens to exercise much restraint because the national cake is shared through a gradual process. The DCE on his part revealed that the district though very young , all efforts were geared towards the provision of social amenities in order to transform the living standard of the people. He urged the people not to allow politics to create enmity between them. Lets all join hands to find solutions to problems that are threats to the development of this district no matter which party is in power, Afigya Kwabre should be our overriding priority since political parties would come and go but this district remains forever, he said.
