Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry Urge ECG To Comply With Load Shedding Time Table

The Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) is demanding that the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) complies fully with its load shedding time table to allow for programmed production. Industries in the last two weeks have expressed concerns with the rise in production cost following the current power crisis. According to the Chamber its members can only plan effectively if the ECG adheres to the load shedding time table. Speaking to Citi Business News the Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber Mark Badu Aboagye says the chamber has asked its members to make alternative arrangements to prevent the negative impact on productivity if the load shedding does not end as proposed. We are happy that the time table is out now but what we will ask for is that, ECG sticks according to what they have provided us, so as to ensure that the cost to industry is barely minimized. We have also asked our members to make alternative arrangements for power in case the problem is not solved within the time frame provided. Its becoming increasingly expensive and difficult to do business in Ghana because industry does not have stable or constant supply of power.
