Man, 51, Found Decomposing In His Room

A FIFTY-ONE-YEAR old man was on Monday found dead and decomposing in a barrel in his room at Koforidua Okorase in the Eastern region. The body of the deceased has been conveyed to the St. Joseph�s Hospital morgue pending autopsy. The DAILY HERITAGE gathered at the scene that the deceased, a former staff of Parks and Gardens in Koforidua died days ago and was only found dead on Monday after the stench started emanating from his room which caught the attention of his daughter who had come to the house to see the father after several attempts to reach the father on phone proved futile. The police were informed about the incident and as a result, officers from the homicide unit of the Ghana Police Service in the New Juaben Municipal Police Command were dispatched to the scene. According to the New Juaben Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Richardson Kumeko, the police after obtaining the necessary information broke into the room and found the body of the deceased decomposing in a barrel located in his two bedroom house. Sup. Kumeko added that, after taking inventory, the body was sent to the St. Joseph�s Hospital Morgue. He stressed that autopsy would be done to complement police investigations. He further stated that the police suspects foul play in the death of the deceased and said investigations are ongoing to unravel the mystery behind the death to help arrest his assailants if any.
