Police Service Promotes Agyeman-Badu Following Prez Mahama's Recommendation

The Ghana Police Service has promoted the Director of the Eastern Regional Police Band, Assistant Superintendent (ASP) Kofi Agyeman-Badu to the rank of a Deputy Superintendent of Police. The promotion came after a directive from President John Mahama. Mr Agyeman-Badu, who has been with the police band for 27 years, shows passion, commitment and dexterity when conducting the band during national and other social assignments. What the President saw during a visit to Koforidua some months ago might have moved him to call for the elevation of Mr Agyeman-Badu. Announcing the promotion during the inauguration of a music theatre for the Eastern Regional Police Band in Koforidua, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan, extolled the virtues of Mr Agyeman-Badu and called on other police personnel to be committed to their work. He commended Mr Agyeman-Badu for initiating the music theatre project which he described as a befitting place for the bands rehearsals. "Dont always ask what the service can do for you but what you can do for the Ghana Police Service," he added. He, therefore, encouraged all police personnel to put in their best in their various schedules, since that was the only way to achieve excellence. Mr Alhassan was not happy about the activities of some bad lots in the service whose actions had tarnished the image of the police and therefore gave an assurance that his administration would continue to work hard to project the image of the police. A member of the Council of State, Nana Kodua Kesse, appealed to the police administration to increase the number of police personnel in the country. He further appealed to corporate institutions to support the police in their endeavours. The Eastern Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Yaggy Akuliba, urged the Police Band to use music to highlight social vices, since it would go a long way to bring about behavioural change.
