An Accra Fast Track high Court will today hear an application in which two members of the opposition New Patriotic party( NPP) are seeking an interlocutory injunction on the party�s October 18 congress.
Two members of the party, Rexford Agyei Frimpong and Oppong Kyekyeku sought an order against the National Council to comply with the provision of the NPP constitution and fix a new date for the congress but an Accra Fast Track High Court adjourned the case indefinitely.
The court application follows calls from flagbearer aspirants, Alan Kyerematen and Addai Nimoh that the party�s leadership should reconsider the date for the congress.
The two say the October 18 date will not give them ample time to reach the over 140,000 delegates across the country.
The last time they were in court, counsel for the plaintiffs pleaded for more time to study the response from the party against their suit.
Nana Akufo-Addo�s camp has in response to the call said that they don�t agree with the arguments from the two candidates because according to them, the situation is like a �90 minutes football game, we all have the same time to compete and win.�
Today�s court case will bring finality to what is likely to offset the October 18 congress.
Meanwhile, an Accra Fast track High Court has set September 30, 2014 to rule on a motion filed by the NPP praying the court to throw out an application filed by a member of the party David Hoezame.
Hoezame is challenging the status of the national council of the party.
According to the party led by its lead counsel Godfred Dame, the case brought before the court was frivolous and lacked merit.
He argued that Hoezame failed to adhere to the dictates of the constitution of the party which spells out clearly how grievances by members of the party should be dealt with.
In August, a Fast track High Court dismissed an application for an interim injunction against the party�s Super Delegates Congress.
