The Top 4 Things Single Men Are Looking For In A Relationship

If you're single and wondering what the hell eligible men are really looking for in a partner, here's some good news: It's probably a lot simpler than you think. For National Singles Week (yep, that's a thing), Match.com dug up some stats from their 2013 Singles in America Survey, which asked over 5,000 singles about what they're looking for these days. Contrary to popular belief, looks did not top the charts. In fact, when asked what they "must have" in a relationship, 98 percent of men said someone who treats them with respect, 97 percent said someone they can trust and confide in, 95 percent said someone comfortable communicating their wants and needs, and 91 percent said someone with a sense of humor who can make them laugh. These four attributes beat out "is physically attractive to me," which 89 percent of men wanted. So yes, an attraction is still crucial, but even more so, single men are interested in the deeper qualities. Oh, and for you powerhouses that think men are intimidated by your success, that may not be the case. Turns out single men aren't scared of educated, intellectual, career women. A whopping 90 percent of men would date someone who made more money than them, 86 percent said they'd date someone with a higher education, and 87 percent said they'd date someone smarter than them. So the next time you're on a date that really couldn't suck any more, keep all these encouraging stats in mind. There are great, eligible men out there who are looking for the same things you are.
