1000 Acre Farm Plot For GT Accra NDC

Work on the construction of a new office complex for Greater Accra National Democratic Congress (NDC) started yesterday with a sod cutting. Comrade Stephen Akwertey, a leading contender in the Greater Accra Regional Chairmanship race, who acquired the land and doubles as the facilitator, broke the ground at the site in Osuwem in the Shai Osudoku Constituency last Sunday. The office complex, designed to have a 400 seating capacity conference room and other offices, is expected to be commissioned by 31st of December 2014. On the yet to be ploughed farm land, Comrade Akwertey in collaboration with Bulgarians and Israelis as well as the research Department of University of Ghana have instituted a mechanism to operate an arable farming with the raising of livestock which is going to create jobs for members as well as the local people of Osuwem. Since the crop production side of the farm would be purely organic, a place in the office complex would be created for the production of organic fertilizer. Interacting with the media shortly after the sod cutting, Comrade Akwertey noted that the NDC in its 20 years of existence has continuously been operating from a rented premises and offices given out by well-meaning loyalists of the party. Calling it a regrettable phenomenon, the aspiring regional chairman assured that every constituency was going to get a permanent ultra-modern office to ensure an effective and efficient party mobilization and administration. According to him, he would not wait till he attains the position before he starts fulfilling his promises as has been the norm of campaign promises. He further noted that solving the problems confronting the people of the grassroots was the only way to retain the NDC in power come 2016. The aspirant who doubles as an entrepreneur counseled current leaders to desist from applying cosmetic and unsustainable solutions intended to pacify the people in the short term rather should venture into new grounds and establish proper business modules capable of generating incomes and revenues to support their regular programmes. Comrade Akwertey believes all these could be achieved without an incorruptible, sincere, compassionate, visionary and action-oriented leadership like he is bringing on board. The contractor of the office complex, Chris Kwesi Anti, pledged he would meet the deadline of 31st December since materials and workforce was ready. Already Mr. Akwertey has instituted a 1 million Education/health fund to take care of the education and health needs of the NDC needy members of Greater Accra.
