Driven by the passion and commitment to create the best of platforms for sound academic education in the country, leading telecoms provider and Award winning CSR Company of the year, Airtel Ghana, has donated chairs to teachers and pupils of the Nkotompo AME Zion Basic School in the Shama Ahanta East Metropolis in the Western Region. The chairs were donated as complementary furniture for their ICT Center. The gesture from the Telco falls under Airtel Ghana�s Flagship internal Corporate Social Responsibility project called Make a Difference Day (MADD), which encourages its employees to get involved in their local communities by identifying and supporting sustainable projects within their communities or lending a hand towards a charity project which they are passionate about. Established in 1920, the school now boasts of a student population of 565 comprising the primary and the junior high school. In his remark during the presentation ceremony held in the school premises, the head teacher of the school, Mr. Wisdom Boamah, said �Today we are extremely pleased that Airtel Ghana is taking an interest in the success of education�. Words cannot fully express our gratitude for this remarkable gesture. This company since inception in this country has been foremost in lending a helping hand in developmental initiatives too numerous to mention to the people of this nation. Forever, the students, teachers and the community in general will never forget your kindness�, Boamah added. He further revealed that computer literacy has virtually become a way of life, for that matter a necessity yet only a handful of privileged ones get access; this explains why an intervention like this cannot be underestimated. On his part as Head of Corporate Communication of Airtel Ghana, Donald Gwira said. This is not the first time we are intervening in this manner and as a responsible corporate citizen, it shall not be the last as we are continuously committed to not only provide Ghanaians with excellent telecommunications experience at all times, but also in providing them with comfort and peace of mind through sustainable initiatives that will add value and make this world a wonderful place for them to live in.
