NDC Ready For Battle In Eastern Region

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is ready for battle in the Eastern Region with the successful completion of elections in all the 33 constituencies in the region, an aspiring Deputy Eastern Regional Secretary of the party, Mr Francis Annor-Dompreh, has said. Commending the regional executive of the party for their impartiality, which resulted in the peaceful elections in all the 33 constituencies, he said the exemplary leadership of the regional executive must be emulated by those at the helm of affairs of the party in the other regions so that the acrimonious relationship that has led to disunity among party members in some parts of the country would stop. "I wish to congratulate all the constituencies on the way they handled their congresses, which has gone a long way to indicate that the NDC is ready for battle in the Eastern Region," he added. Mr Annor-Dompreh, who spoke to the Daily Graphic, was not happy that some individuals had taken their constituency executive to court, and therefore called on all aggrieved persons to withdraw the cases for amicable settlement. He said the NDC had since time immemorial believed in consensus building and wondered why all of a sudden people were resorting to the court for justice. "Is it that leadership has failed or what? All these must stop so that with a united front, the NDC wins the 2016 elections, which will not be easy," he said. Touching on the economy, Mr Annor-Dompreh urged the media to talk more about the gradual stability of the cedi just as they did when it was depreciating against the major currencies, pointing out that "the appreciation of the cedi is as a result of prudent measures adopted by the government. He said the government would not deliberately burden Ghanaians with harsh conditions and expressed the hope that all stakeholders would support President John Mahama to succeed. On his chances of becoming the new deputy regional secretary, he said based on his background as a broadcaster, the delegates would vote for him in order to share his experience with the party.
