Ningo NDC Election In Turmoil

Some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency of the Greater Accra Region have vowed to resist all attempts to make the partys constituency elections come off in the area. The delegates have threatened to disrupt the elections, which are scheduled for today, as a result of what they call the unfair disqualification of some four key candidates. The candidates are Michael Kwetey Tetteh, John Doku Nartey, John Mensah and Daniel Tetteh Lartey. According to the discontented delegates, some constituency executives and the Member of Parliament for the area, E.T. Mensah, have conspired with some Regional Executives to disqualify the four contestants. Some of the over hundred delegates, holding papers with the inscription, No Michael, No Vote, told DAILY GUIDE that until the disqualified contestants were reinstatement, they would do all they could to ensure they stop the conduct of the elections. We will not allow the elections to be conducted in Ningo because they have decided to be unfair to our members and they have disqualified them, one of them charged. The NDC delegates also noted that some members at the national level had been discriminating against some members in the Ningo Constituency since 2012. It will be recalled that somewhere in September, an Accra Fast Track High Court restrained the NDC and two of its affiliates from organising the youth, women and executive elections in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency. This was after four plaintiffs contended that they had been disqualified from contesting the elections by the Vetting Committee in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency. The court, presided over by Mr Justice Mustapha Habib Logoh, granted the ex-parte motion filed by the four party members.
