Chief Scores Mahama High On Corruption

CHIEF IBRAHIM Mobila has commended President John Mahama for taking a bold step in the dismissal of the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Enterprise Support (YES) Fund, Kwadwo Adu Asare and the former deputy Communications minister, Victoria Hammah over their complicit allegations. Chief Mobila said The administrative actions that are usually taken by the first citizen of the land (Ghana) pinpoints to the world that, the President is a self-minded person and ready to protect the nations kitty. He stated that, ever since the former president, Jerry John Rawlings led administration left office in the early 2000, high profound figures had used public offices to amass wealth for themselves and continue to be in office, making the poor citizens on the street to suffer the replication. The founding Member of the National Democratic Congress further acknowledged that Ghanaians, Civil Society Organizations and foreign donors have the convection that the president is fighting corruption at his best and the public now feels save and delighted with the Presidents decisions. A leader who cautions and works to the extreme of curtailing menace and public canker is far better than a leader who says corruption started in the era of Adam. He said. He called on the general public, civil servants and government appointees to help the president deliver and fish out self-interest public personnel, as well as persons found sabotaging the current administration and the next generation. Alhaji Mobila added that per the seriousness of the fight against corruption by the Mahama led administration the government is able to introduce biometric registration for workers to whip up ghost names in the public payroll. According to him, government had canceled and reformed some selected social intervention programmes that were tagged with corruption, dismissed MMDCEs for corruption and misconduct at public functions, as well as declaring zero tolerance for absenteeism in public offices which he said would help engage the unemployed. The firmness and bold decisions taken by the President with his exceptional advisers always reminds me of military regimes that use to crack the whip when someone is perceived to be corrupt or taking advantage of public office to enrich himself. Mr. Adu Asare was the head of protocol and supporters welfare union for the Brazil 2014 world cup, and has been criticized for his involvement in the poor organization of Ghanas participation which led to the abysmal performance of the Black Stars in the tournament. Adu Asare at the Dzamefe commission admitted that some funds collected for Ghanas world cup campaign was misappropriated which led to his dismissal. The former Communications Minister, Victoria Hammah was asked to proceed on leave and subsequently sacked following allegations of using her ministerial position to target huge sums of money before leaving office.
