Mahama�s Boy Addresses World Forum

The Mayor of the Tamale Metropolis Hannan Gundadow Abdul-Rahaman will be among several speakers at this year�s World Investment Forum (WIF) to be held in Geneva, Switzerland. Mr. Gundadow who is the only Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) from Ghana attending the week-long event at the instance of Professor Jeffrey Sachs, a renowned American Economist and director of The Earth Institute at Columbia University is billed to address the forum on October 14. According to him, his message seeks to court investors to the metropolis to make it an epic centre of development for the entire northern region focusing on housing industry, infrastructural development and agribusiness. He hinted that special focus on tourism and health using the Tamale airport currently being given a facelift to an international status is among the highlights of his address. The Mayor reiterated the fact that the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) will be given a mention as the vehicle for the purposes of opening up the metropolis and the north at large to investors. The event organized by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) under the theme: �Investing in Sustainable Development� will be attended by several world leaders and their sector ministers to deliberate on investment opportunities available in participating countries. The MCE disclosed that it is one of the greatest opportunities to sell the metropolis to the investor community underscoring the significance of such platforms he noted will open up the job market and create jobs for the teeming youth of the metropolis. He observed that the forum was not a talk shop but an opportunity for renowned investors from all walks of life to determine where to sink their investments and yield good returns. �The Tamale metropolis is the fastest growing cities in West Africa endowed with numerous natural resources need to sell the area for investors to capitalize on and partner city authorities towards its development�. He observed.
