BNI Should Widen Its Investigations: NSS Rot Is An Organized Crime

Former Youth Organizer of Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Joseph Kwabena Bomfeh has called on the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) to scope further on its investigations into the rot at the National Service Secretariat (NSS) to expose all perpetrators who played a role to steal GH7.9 million from the service scheme. According to "Kabila" as he is known in political circles, the fraud at the National Service Secretariat (NSS) could not have taken place with the few officials mentioned, thus it will take the Regional and District officers and syndicated group of people who signed for the monies involving the 22,000 ghost names in the scheme. He however indicated on Oman FM that the fraud at the National Service Secretariat did not start recently as it has been going on for a long time, insisting it is well organized crime involving the public and civil servants. He further bemoaned the amount of monies lost to individuals at the National Service Secretariat at the expense of the countrys development as many citizens are jobless and sleeping on the streets. In conclusion, "Kabila" blamed the deteriorating country on individual greed, selfishness and corrupt practices as many have stolen the countrys funds in excess to impoverish the majority. The fraud at the NSS did not start today but it has been going on for a long time...what happened at the NSS could not have taken place by only those officials cited in the BNI investigations; this is an organized crime involving all the leaders of NSS and its Regional and District officers...the syndicated group of people who signed for the monies are part of the fraud, if GH7.9 million has found its way into individuals pockets in July alone, how much do you think we have lost from January to June this year?...this country has too much money for its citizens to be sleeping on the streets and to find it difficult getting jobs, he bemoaned. He however charged the state institutions responsible for checking fraud to be dutiful rather than reducing their roles to political assignments that settle personal scores.
