Ex-convict, Another, Arrested For Alleged Theft

A 33-year-old ex-convict, has been re-arrested for allegedly stealing from another man�s room, with an accomplice, while the man was away for work. Kwaku Mintah, alias �Killer,� who has just finished serving a seven-year-jail term for a similar offence, was arrested on Wednesday, October 8, and is being held by the Suntreso Police in Kumasi together with Godfred Ofori, an accomplice. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Vitus Napen, Suntreso District Police Commander, told newsmen in Kumasi on Thursday that the incident happened at Kokoso in Kumasi, where Mintah broke into the man's room, ransacked the place, packed the items which included one mattress, mobile phones, wrist watches, one rice cooker, one laptop and television deck. into a waiting taxi, which moved away at a top speed. DSP Napen said the man return from work, he reported the case to the police, and a witness led the police to arrest Kyei who reportedly received the items at Abrepo in Kumasi, where the items were indeed retrieved. During investigation, Ofori led the police to arrest Mintah. A police search in Mintah�s room uncovered assorted wrist watches, mobile phones, digital cameras, rice cooker, among other things. Mintah confessed having committed the crime, and two other thefts which happened at Patasi and Santasi, both suburbs of Kumasi. They would be prosecuted as soon as the police finished their investigations.
