German Fraudster Woes Deepen

The woes of a 52-year-old German national from Deutschland West is far from over as more victims who claim to have been defrauded by him keep popping up. Suspect Klaus Diepor Hierichf, a civil engineer, is said to be part of a syndicate defrauding unsuspecting Ghanaians under the pretext of selling them oil drilling sealants. Klaus Diepor was apprehended together with his accomplice, Kwesi Kwakye, 47, on September 1, 2014 at a restaurant at East Legon upon a tip-off by the Odorkor Police after a case of fraud was lodged against them but some of his Ghanaian accomplices managed to escape. So far, 11 other victims have reported at the Odorkor Police Station that they have been defrauded by the suspect and his cohorts after news of their arrest was published in the media. Two of their accomplices whose names were given as Robert and Elder Mensah are currently at large and are being searched for by the police. The Cape Coast Police in the Central Region and police personnel from the Eastern Region, according to information received, have also sent a sign for the suspects to be released to them after investigations are over to help investigate similar cases levelled against them. The Odorkor District Crime Officer, DSP Emmanuel Osei Agboga, who revealed the report to the DAILY GUIDE, said that 11 persons reported at the station after the suspects were published in the papers for having defrauded them. He said the suspects have been brought back to the station to help in police investigations. It would be recalled that Klaus Diepor Hierichf and his accomplice, Kwesi Kwakye, were apprehended on September 1, 2014 at a restaurant at East Legon after a fraud case was reported against him by one Alex Darko, a chef of Golden Tulip, Kumasi. According to the complainant, he received a telephone call from Robert, now at large, on August 26, 2014, who introduced the oil sealant business to him, adding that it was in high demand by workers of Jubilee Oil Fields. The complainant added that Robert in the course of their telephone conversation pointed out that he knew some civil engineers at the Jubilee Oil Fields who needed to items to buy at a cost of GH�5,000 and that if the victim was interested in it, he could connect him to them. �Robert who claimed he had no money himself to go into such a lucrative business added that he also knows Elder Mensah at Awoshie who also sells the oil sealants who can supply the victim the items at a cost of GH�4,000 per a sealant. Some days later, the victim received a telephone call from Klaus Diepor Hierichf and Kwesi Kwakye that Robert had asked them to contact him for some oil sealants at a cost of GH�5,000 each.� They urged the victim to get them more of the oil sealants since they needed it badly for their work. The victim who was convinced contacted Elder Mensah, the supplier and bought a sample at a cost of GH�4,000 for examination. Upon examining the oil sealant bought from Elder Mensah, the suspect detected that the item was a bicycle part being painted and immediately reported the matter to the Odorkor Police.
