Drama Over Paternity Of 6-Year-Old Girl

Tension is brewing between two young men over the paternity of a six-year-old girl. The two, George Adu, 36 and Daniel Narh-Bana, are both claiming paternity of the child, born to one Alberta Korkor, 24, a supposed fianc of Adu in 2008. Adu claims that he had dated Korkor for two-and-a-half years before the pregnancy. He told DAILY GUIDE that it was puzzling Korkor, who had wanted to abort his (Adus) child, could turn around and claim he is not the father of the child. Adu said he was summoned before the parents of Korkor when they realized that their daughter was pregnant for him, adding that the family handed over the lady to him. He said he accepted responsibly and footed her hospital bills till she delivered the baby girl. According to George Adu, Korkor refused to breastfeed the baby because he had not performed the customary rites a situation he asserted compelled him to buy baby food for the child for 17 months. Arrest Adu further told the paper that in an attempt to take the baby from the mother, he was arrested in 2010 by the Tesano police in Accra and was asked to pay GH100 as compensation to the grandmother of Korkor. Narh-Bana Pops Up He said surprisingly, Narh-Bana appeared from nowhere claiming paternity of the child. Adu intimated that the child was renamed Marisa Adankie Narh Lawyer Writes Cornelius Bantu Vito, lawyer of Narh-Bana in a letter dated April 25, 2014, accused Adu of having abducted the child from her school. It stated among others things that as at the time of writing the letter, the parents of the child did not know the whereabouts of Marisa Adankie Narh. According to the letter, it had been confirmed at the school and at the Tesano Police Station that Adu was instrumental in carrying away the innocent child from her school and with the illegal assistance of an officer of the police station, you have hidden the child from her biological parents till date. It cautioned Adu to produce the child or face the consequences. You are warned that criminal charges will be preferred against you if you should continue to keep the child away from the father and the mother who are both known to you. Korkor Takes Custody of Child However, DAILY GUIDE has gathered that as at Friday, October 3, 2014 based on a court order Korkor had gone to pick the child from her supposed father at Abeka in Accra. Juvenile Court Meanwhile, a Family and Juvenile Court in Accra has adjourned hearing on the case until October 21.
