Fifty-Six personnel of the Ghana Police Service, including two women have been interdicted by the Police Administration, for various offences between January to date.
The officers are reported to have been involved in offences such as, attempted murder, enlistment fraud, defilement, and threat of death, assault, conspiracy to commit crime, possession of narcotic drugs, extortion and robbery.
Among those affected are Deputy Superintendents, inspectors, Sergeants, Corporals, lance Corporals and Constables.
The Director-General of Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) David Nenyi Ampah Bennin, told the 'Ghanaian Times' in an interview that the interdicted personnel were either on trial or service Inquiry.
DCOP Ampah Bennin said the police would not shield any police officer who misconducts himself.
�Any police officer who thinks he or she can commit any offence and be shielded is living in a fool�s paradise; no one will be spared when caught by the law,� he stressed.
He said the police administration had embarked on image cleansing to re-ignite the public trust in the service.
