Kofi Jumah Accuses Gov't Of Deliberately Neglecting Reserve Power Plants

The clich always remains that, there is light at the end of the tunnel, but this seems otherwise to the people of Kumasi and its environs as many believes that, there seem to be no light at the end of the tunnel. Months after Ghanaians were promised an end to erratic power supply and intermittent power cuts, electricity outages remain the order of the day.
Intermittent power outages that have hit the country in the last five months have been a major concern to the entire citizenry but natives of Ashanti Region are now complaining bitterly sine the rate at which their lights goes off is unreasonable. Cuts in gas supply from Nigeria, repairs on faulty equipment and non-availability of supply from Bui have been blamed for the reduction in the power generation mix. However, New Patriotic Party [NPP] former Member of Parliament [MP] for Asokwa constituency, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has accused government for deliberately neglecting a reserve power plant which could have helped to lessen power outages in the metropolis. The reserve power plant which was fixed by Mantrac/Unatrac Group according to Kofi Jumah has been unattended to since its installment. These generators are in Kumasi but have never been used since 2008. There are similar ones in Accra and Tema, he said. However, the ardent government critic took to Facebook to post some pictures of generators at the Volta River Authority Kumasi Reserve Power Plant which has been left idle for years.
