Formulate Policies And Programs To Move Ghana Into Industrialization After IMF Bailout - Alan K

Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng, a leading contender for the New Patriotic Party flagbearership, has punched holes in the reason for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government is seeking an International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout. To him, the IMF bailout would not go beyond the stabilization of the micro economy of the country, though would be good, a stable micro-economy alone is not enough to put the economic affairs of the nation on a sound footing. What we need, in his view, are pragmatic policies and programs that would, 1. develop our infrastructure 2. That will create a strong industrial base for the country and number 3 that would identify new strategic pillars of export to lead Ghana to the promise land. beyond the kind of things that we have heard from the NDC, my brother let me ask you. What kind of justification specific programs and policies have we been given by the NDC government to suggest that after the IMF bailout, when the macro-economy has been stabilized, how do we grow this economy? What kind of industrial policy frame work do we have? These statements come on the back of a series of meetings between delegations from IMF and that Ghanas Economic Management Team. These meetings are to help Ghana find a way out of her its numerous economic challenges. Though Alan Kyeremanteng believes the IMF bailout would further help stabilize the cedi, he was quick to call for realistic steps to ensure the country moves into industrialization. He also warned that having policies is just a first step because the policy is only a guide to action. if you want to support local businessmen industrially, come out clear and let us how you are going to do that he maintained.
