Asamoah Gyan Asks For Forgiveness Of Ghanaians

Players and officials of the national senior football team were spotted this morning at the Kotoka International Airport as they got ready to depart for Tamale where they are billed to face the Syli National of Guinea in a Morocco 2015 qualifying game on Wednesday. Skipper Asamoah Gyan and teammates are on flight to the Northern Region capital where the Black Stars will play a competitive fixture for the first time since the stadium's construction for the country's hosting of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations. The country's football chiefs are living up to their word to have games of the national teams rotated around the country to give all Ghanaians the chance to see the Black Stars in action right at their own doorsteps. Tamale take their turn following a poor reception the national team received from fans in Kumasi on the opening weekend of this qualifiers when the Cranes of Uganda rode on the back of unexpected cheers from Ghanaians to claim a shock point against the 2010 World Cup quarter finalists. The Black Stars are expected to win back the favour of the home fans in Tamale but once again, captain Gyan has gone down on his knees pleading for forgiveness for whatever problem that has caused the fans' disaffection. "Once again we are sorry. Ghanaians should forgive us and support us," Gyan told Hot FM at the airport. Ghana top Group E which has now become the most open pool of all Africa's seven qualifying sections with 5 points, just a point more than Guinea and Uganda with Togo rooted bottom on 3 points. The Emmanuel Adebayor led Hawks will be seeking to complete the double over the Cranes in Lome on Wednesday afternoon, same time Ghana will be handling Guinea in Tamale of course. Only the top two at the end of the round robin group games next month will gain qualification to the January 17 to 8 February tournament in Morocco.
