Hopeson Adorye, a member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called for the arrest of the immediate past Executive Director of the Ghana National Service Scheme (GNSS). According to him, the infamous "ghost names" on payroll at the National Service Secretariat was apparently initiated by the GNSS former Boss, Vincent Senam Kuagbenu. Speaking in an interview with Peacefmonline.com, Hopeson Adorye stated emphatically that Mr. Kuagbenu cook up some ghost names in order to win a bid for a farming project he undertook while in office. He indicated that during the tenure of Mr. Kuagbenu, some phantom figures were prepared to kick start what he called "National Service Farms"; but the farm lands proceeds were later misappropriated by the GNSS Boss. �It�s not the new Executive Director who started. Kuagbenu�s time, the ghost names were there�The annoying thing is that after he was moved from there the Government of Ghana gave him GHC 13 million to re-register government vehicles," he alleged. Addressing the rot at the National Service Secretariat, Hopeson Adorye called on the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) to swiftly swoop down on Mr. Vincent Kuagbenu and probe him regarding the NSS scandal. To him, Mr. Kuagbenu's involvement in the scandal cannot be discounted since his (Kuagbenu) behaviour in office has culminated in the recent rot at the Secretariat. �I wish that the immediate past Executive Director, Kuagbenu would also be arrested because we should not allow him to go scot free. All this National Service Farms, whatever, started from his time and I learned they were using those ghost names to procure funds for this farming�So, I am of the view that the authority must also arrest Kuagbenu and then investigate him and make sure he also faces the full rigours of the law,� he said.
