Nana Addo Electrifies Sefwi

Nana Ado Dankwa Akufo-Addo, one of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2016 aspiring presidential candidates, yesterday brought commercial activities in certain parts of the Sefwi area in the Western Region to a halt when he took his campaign tour to the region. Nana Addo, who is currently in the region for a two-day campaign ahead of the partys October 18 congress to elect a standard bearer, was mobbed by residents, traders and commercial drivers who abandoned everything to catch a glimpse of him. They called him the next president of Ghana. Yesterdays tour took Nana Addo to Sefwi Wiawso, Juaboso and Asankragwa, all in the northern part of the region. He took time to shake hands and interact with many people in the various communities he visited with his entourage. Nana Addos first point of call was at Sefwi Wiawso, one of the strongholds of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), where the people pledged their full support for the NPP 2012 flagbearer in the next general elections. According to them, even though they had been voting for the NDC in previous elections, the ruling government had neglected them in terms of some basic social amenities. They praised the previous NPP administration for the construction of some roads, health and educational facilities in the area. Instead of putting money in our pockets as the government promised, it has rather created holes in our pockets, the people lamented. They stressed the need for all registered voters in the community who had been made poorer and helpless by the incompetent NDC administration, to vote massively for the NPP in 2016 to ensure that Ghana is put back on the pedestal of growth and development. There was excitement when Nana Addo and his entourage got to Sefwi Juaboso, as hundreds of residents came out to welcome him. Nana Addo explained that he was in the area to appeal to the delegates to vote for him at the partys congress on Saturday to lead the party to victory in 2016. Addressing party sympathizers and the general public at Juaboso, Nana Akufo-Addo stressed the need for the electorate to vote massively for the NPP in the 2016 general elections so as to retire the NDC administration and improve the lives of Ghanaians. He told the people that his vision was about how to move Ghana forward and not about amassing wealth, adding that is why I am asking you to vote for me. He bemoaned the current spate of corruption cases in the country, stressing that he would not condone corruption when elected as President of Ghana. He said when elected as president, his focus would also be to expand and transform the Ghanaian economy to create and sustain jobs for the many unemployed in the country. I entreat all Ghanaians to vote massively for the NPP so that together we can restore the economy, he indicated. Other speakers included Joe Ghartey, Member of Parliament (MP) for Essikado Ketan; Joseph Boahen Aidoo, former Western Regional Minister; Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, MP for Takoradi and Eugenia Gifty Kusi, MP for Tarkwa-Nsuaem all in the region. They noted that it was obvious that President John Dramani Mahama and his team did not have the knowledge and expertise to manage the affairs of the country. They bemoaned the fact that most social interventions like the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) introduced by the previous NPP regime was at the verge of collapse and pledged that when given the nod, the NPP would resuscitate the scheme to the benefit of all Ghanaians. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his campaign team will conclude the tour of the region today with a visit to the Ellembelle, Wassa East and Effia constituencies.
