Lamudi Ghana Holds Discussion On Real Estate Growth

Lamudi Ghana invited architects, land experts, developers, agencies and the media to a roundtable discussion on Sustainable Real Estate. Lamudi believes that the country should adopt pragmatic steps towards developing a sustainable real estate sector in Ghana. Addressing stakeholders in real estate development at the La Villa Boutique Hotel, Osu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Brandon Rogers, Mr. Rogers Brandon, said sustainable development was one of the many trending keywords in the construction industry which focused on redefining the age-old principle of building with that which was available and taking into account the impact that it has on the environment. Rogers said this method essentially centered on a desired outcome of creating a more responsive project that better integrated into the environment and maintained a healthy resource efficient life cycle. He added that in view of this, architectural designers, developers and overall creative thinkers had a responsibility to take the numerous social and cultural aspects of the areas they develop in the real estate development. He took the opportunity to share his knowledge on the Earth Bag Building Technology with the participants which he advised must be adopted by the citizenry. According to him he had dedicated his time, energy and skills towards the research and development of indigenous-based building techniques as an alternative to conventional practices, in order to determine efficient methods of affordable housing for rural communities throughout Ghana. Mr. Rogers explained that the technology was a method which built on the traditional practice of "Atakwame" construction, a process of hand packing clay soil to form mud walls, which, he said, had been used for thousands of years throughout rural communities.
