Akufo-Addos Camp Accuses Afoko Of Starving Party Of Cash

News has emerged that the New Patriotic Party is struggling to fund its Saturday congress to elect a flag-bearer for the 2016 general elections. That is coming from the camp of the 2012 NPP presidential candidate, Nana Akufo Addo as he wraps up his campaign with a mammoth rally at the Abrantie Spot at Lapaz in Accra. Former General Secretary of the NPP, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie alleged that the party has failed to raise enough funds to organize the elections compelling Nana Addo to step in. He specifically mentioned the cost involving transportation of delegates and other party staff to polling centres, Joy News Kwakye Afreh Nuamah reported from the rally ground. The claim was backed by an ardent supporter of Nana Akufo-Addos presidential bid. Just so you know, he provided details on his facebook wall, The Kwadwo Mpianim-led finance committee hasn't raised a pesewa to finance Saturday's event. They have shown absolutely no interest in the event and my sources indicate that Nana Addo had to step in to save the situation. May Allah help the NPP. Mustapha went further to state: I wouldn't wanna belabour the obvious but it's pretty clear that people are trying to use whatever means possible to frustrate the system so the congress would be postponed. First it was the courts and now this cavalier attitude towards an extremely important event. Also he had bones to pick with the partys National Chairman, Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, questioning their dependability. I thought Afoko and KAA were reliable? This is just a reminder going forward, that going into 2016 we cannot rely on the services of any official, we, especially the youth at the grassroots must take our destinies, together with the destiny of this great party into our own hands. We wait on any executive at our own peril. A word to the wise... But in a sharp rebuttal, National Treasurer of the NPP, Kwabena Abankwa Yeboah dismissed the claims on Joy FMs Top Story Thursday. He said all the necessary things needed for the election to come off on Saturday have been provided. He mentioned for instance security arrangements and equipment for the Electoral Commission. I dont know the kind of funds he is talking about, he snapped. He maintained so far as he is concerned the party has done everything needed to be done, and insisted that the election would be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014. Mr Yeboah however noted that aspirants helping delegates in terms of transport as stated by the Nana Akufo-Addo camp was not new to internal elections of the party. To the best of my knowledge the congress would not be postponed, he emphasized.
