The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has queried why the New Patriotic Party (NPP) did not choose an Electoral Commission from a different country to superintend their just ended National Delegates Congress. The NPP in an election on Saturday chose Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo as their flagbearer for the third consecutive time. The Electoral Commission apart from supervising the election which took place in 275 constituencies and a special polling station at the party�s headquarters, officially declared Nana Akufo Addo as the flagbearer of the NPP with 117,413 votes representing 94.35%. As you may recall, the NPP after the 2012 general elections, accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of rigging the elections in favour of President John Dramani Mahama. They therefore prayed the Supreme Court to annul 4,670,504 of the valid votes cast during the election at 11,916 polling stations where alleged irregularities took place. It is on this premise that the NDC wants to find out why the NPP did not depend on a different unit to help them in their elections. Speaking in an interview on PEACE FM morning show �Kokrokoo�, the General Secretary of the ruling NDC Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, asked the NPP why they did not depend on the Electoral Commission from �Togo� �Is it the same Electoral Commission that the NPP took to court that superintended the elections for them? Why didn�t they go for the Togo Electoral Commission?� he queried. Speaking to the fact that Nana Addo has been elected again as flagbearer of the NPP, he said the NDC are not perturbed that Nana Addo has been chosen as flagbearer 'again'. According to him, �it is not new for NDC, we will defeat him again� Meanwhile, some political pundits have described the percentage Nana Addo recorded after the election as the highest ever in the history of NPP. However, General Mosquito as Asiedu Nketia is popularly called says if that is the case then a huge defeat awaits him (Nana Addo).
