Akatsi North Will Exceed 2014 Revenue Target-DCE

Mr James Gunu, Akatsi-North District Chief Executive, is optimistic the Assembly would exceed its 2014 revenue target of 88,358.00 Ghana Cedis. Last year, the Assembly exceeded its target by 47.7 per cent, collecting GH96,589.00 against a target of GH65,415.00. We are on course and indications are that, we will achieve our targets and possibly exceed it, he said in a telephone interview with the Ghana News Agency in Ho. Mr Gunu said the Assembly as at June this year, bagged a total of GH57,292.32, representing 76.2 per cent of its targeted Internally Generated Fund (IGF) for the year. He said though some areas such as basic and property rates, miscellaneous and licensing were not doing well, the Assembly performed creditably in fines and fees, bagging GH34,077.90 out of its target of GH48,028.00, representing 70.7 per cent for the midyear. Mr Gunu said the Assembly exceeded its target for rent, collecting GH4,464.42, representing 155.3 percent against the target of GH2,700.00, and GH6,630.00, representing 36.33 percent of a target of GH18,250.00 for rents from land. He said the Assembly also collected GH22,120.00, representing 340.3 percent from investments for the midyear, against a target of GH6,500.00. Mr Gunu said the transparency of the Assembly through regular public accounts fora and the recruitment of revenue collectors who work on commission basis accounted for the relative high internally generated revenue. He said strategies were being mapped for non-performing areas. Mr Gunu said the 2015 budget will be presented to the Assembly for consideration by the end of October.
