1 Dead, 35 Houses Destroyed At Bunkpurugu

The northern regional police command has beefed up security at Bunkpurugu in the Northern region, following the destruction of over 35 houses and the death of one Amos Nawaad who was killed by unknown assailants. In an interview with the DAILY HERITAGE, DCOP Ken Yeboah confirmed that one person had been arrested at his hide out and his men are vigilant on the ground, adding that his command had deployed police force to the area to apprehend those believed to have fuelled the latest violence. He urged the general public to always give primary information to the police service to help facilitate their investigation and also establish good case to prosecute the offenders. �The citizens of Bunkpurugu must co-operate with us and give us with information which would help us expel the lawbreakers, as well as curb any spill over.� He entreated. Mr Yeboah assured that the situation had been brought under control and the citizens of Bukpurugu and its environs can embark on their daily life activities. Narrating the story to this paper, Alhassan Adam revealed that Amos Nawaad met his untimely death when a youth group was retaliating the death of one opinion leader who was missing for days and later found dead by the district police. Mr Adam said the deceased was alleged by the errant group to have fuelled the murder of the opinion leader, �after the burial of the leader, the group went on rampage and later apprehended and exterminated Nawaad at his resident, leaving over 35 houses destroyed.� The mortal remains of Nawaad had been conveyed to the Baptist Medical Centre in the East Mamprusi District for autopsy before the body could be released to the family for burial.
