13 Perish In Accident At Dobonte

Thirteen people died in an accident last Thursday at Dobonte, near Banda Nkwanta in the Bole District in the Northern Region, when the bus on which they were travelling went into a ditch. Twelve people died on the spot, while one died at the Bole District Hospital. The deceased, whose bodies have been deposited at the mortuary of the same hospital for identification by families comprised seven males, four females, and two children below the ages of two. Eleven others who were also on the bus and sustained injuries are on admission at the same hospital. The Saunyoung bus, with registration number AS 3702-11, carrying 24 passengers, including the driver, was travelling from Kalba in the Sawla/Tuna/Kalba District in the Northern Region to Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region when the accident occurred between 3.30 and 4 a.m. The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ebenezer Tetteh, who confirmed the accident to the Daily Graphic, said the 11 persons who were on admission included the driver of the bus. He said the bus had 24 passengers on board, including the 13 deceased.
