Is Georgette Djaba, Otiko Djaba's Subject of Media Reference?

Well, I don't exactly know what Ms. Otiko Afisa Djaba is referring to, when the firebrand National Women's Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) signs a rather terse and almost cryptic press release vehemently dissociating herself from a defamatory statement allegedly made by her "half-sister," Ms. Dede Djaba, on Amansan FM UK Radio, to the effect of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's having once been arrested at London's Heathrow Airport.

But I can hereby emphatically observe that if, indeed, Ms. Otiko Djaba is referring to Ms. Georgette Djaba, the London-based obnoxiously officious lawyer, who claims to have once served on the staff of Lord Paul Boateng, then, really, Sister Otiko has absolutely nothing to worry about (See "Otiko Afisa Djaba Dissociates Herself from Sister's Comments" Ghanaweb.com 10/22/14).

The fact of the matter is that unlike her immediate younger half-sister, Otiko, Ms. Georgette Djaba has absolutely no credibility and respectability, whatsoever, as I was to learn when I visited London with my family some five, or so, years ago. I did also have a remarkably fraught telephone acquaintanceship with Ms. Georgette Djaba that gave me a quite adequate insight into some aspects of her character, which I would rather not detail at this time.

Nevertheless, I can state without any fear of contradiction that Ms. Georgette Djaba is an implacably wounded political "investment" opportunist who, like her much better known conspiratorial associates among the top-echelon membership of the New Patriotic Party, feels that Akufo-Addo's two marginal losses at the polls in 2008 and 2012 literally cost her an arm and a leg. And this is primarily why Ms. Georgette Djaba rabidly, albeit predictably abortively, teamed up with the Edweso/Ejisu and the Kentucky Boys to suavely ambush and finesse Nana Akufo-Addo, in Texas, I believe, in the lead-up to Election 2012.

I must also quickly point out that I was the one who unilaterally severed all links with Dede Djaba. She was, of course, the first to contact me by E-mail, after she read one of my Ghanaweb.com columns and wanted us to collaborate on a biographical work on her then terminally ill father, Mr. George Djaba, legendary Chairman of Akyem-Abuakwa Susubiribi Soccer Club.

I would shortly back out of this otherwise quite noble project, when it became uncomfortably clear to me that Georgette was a smooth-talking and operating con-artist par-excellence. And so it clearly comes off to me as a damn shame that Sister Otiko Djaba should be forced to carry some of the negative baggage, or vestigial effects, of being related to such a morally unprincipled woman.

Where Ms. Otiko Djaba exudes admirable charm, great wisdom and poise, big sister Georgette sadly comes off as an insufferably self-absorbed turn-off. At least this is my personal take on the two women. If, indeed, Dede Djaba has any forensically sustainable evidence to back up her claim of Ghana's foremost opposition leader having been arrested and convicted at London's Heathrow Airport for whatever reasons, and on whatever charges, by all means, nothing prevents her from concretely letting on the same.

I don't know whose dirty work this otherwise reasonably intelligent woman is up to, but I think such a morally and intellectually regressive tack to politicking has absolutely no place in the New Patriotic Party of 2014, particularly as the party studiously prepares to restore pride, dignity, equity and prosperity to the well-meaning and hardworking people of Ghana.

Come on, Dede Georgette, fellow half-Mamponian, you can do far better than this!
