Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Agyarko has described President Blaise Compaore�s persistent cling to power after his 27 years of ruling as greedy. According to the Legislator, the chaos in Burkina Faso is sad but much expected as the citizens could no longer condone the 27 years of leadership of President Blaise Compaore; thus the attempt to extend his ruling has brought the uprising. Meanwhile, President Blaise Compaore says he will stay in power for a year under a transitional government, following a day of violent protests demanding his resignation. Earlier, demonstrators angered by his bid to extend his 27-year rule torched parliament and government buildings. Mr. Compaore said he would hand over power once the transitional government had completed its 12-month term. He also said he was lifting a "state of siege" he had declared earlier. But reacting to the stance of Mr. Compaore on Oman Fm�s Morning Show, the NPP MP averred that no President in Africa has ever succeeded in an attempt to change the constitution to favor him, describing his [Compaore�s] attempt as outrageous and greedy. �His greediness has brought this situation in Burkina Faso; what is it that he has not achieved or acquired personally within his 27 years as President that he is doing everything in the name of democracy to still cling to power? He lacks self-contentment and with the way the opposition and the citizens are angry with his attempt, they will not allow him to stay in power for even one week. His one year transitional government will not be granted,� he asserted. He however was convinced that with the practice of democracy in Africa, coup was no longer sexy to indulge in but quickly changed that perception per Compaore�s greediness, saying �coup is sexy waaa!�, he stated.
